GIRL POWER CLUB.
NAME: BAZIR ADHIAMBO
SCHOOL: ST MICHAELS HOLY UNITY.

My name is Bazir Adhiambo. I am fourteen years old. I am in Class Eight. My year has been good because I was really affected in playing football. Since I joined Girl Power Club I learnt a lot of very good things. First, I learnt what is football. I plan to come to only teams that know Girl Power well know how to play football. Some girls you can get that they are pregnant because of peer pressure and others are abusing drugs.
I want to overcome the dangers by telling girls to be serious with their lives. I ask them to break bad company in the slums.
I plan to work hard so that I can be a pilot in the future. Not because of their uniform, but their work and how they do it.
I like Girl Power Club really much.

" I Will Visit My Grandparents"

Girl Power Club has made a difference in the lives of many girls and helped them learn how to cope in today’s society. I have been enlightened on my rights as a girl, which has made me feel empowered. For example, I have learnt how I can venture into business and managing it through a project that we were helped to begin.
After school, over the December holiday I will be going to my countryside to visit my grandparents. I plan to be back in January to study computers and enlighten myself in the technological area. I will also use my time to teach other girls!

 "I Will Work"
My name is Jessica Anyango and I am 15years old and I am in Class Eight. I would like to be a doctor because I admire the way they dress and take good care of people who are sick.
My year was good because I have not seen anything wrong. I can say that my year is good because my parents were good to me. This holiday, I plan to help my parents by finding a job to do so that I won’t sit idle at home.
Some of the dangers I face during the holidays are like drug abuse, peer pressure and even early pregnancy. When I am through with my school I would like to talk to other girls and warn them of the dangers out there.

‘’I Want To Work With Girl Power’’
Despite the challenges girls face both in school and at home , being a member of Girl Power Club has made me strong and given me the courage  to face challenges with a positive attitude  hence enabling me to stand firm as phenomenal lady!
I am very glad to reach at this point at which I will be sitting for my K.C.S.E because most of the ladies have not been able to. Most have dropped out in previous classes either out of pregnancy, lack of self-esteem and a lot more.
Girl Power has strengthened our dignity and I would like to appreciate all that they have taught us since the beginning of our secondary education. I also urge them to continue with the same spirit because   I also would like to join the organization while I wait for my results and hope I will be welcome!

 "Keep The Club Alive"
My dream occupation is to be a teacher in a secondary school. So far, my experience in Girl Power has been a journey that has been good because I got to learn many things. Now that I am leaving high school and begin a new life I pray to God to take care of me and everyone else, whom I shall be leaving behind.
To the rest of the girls, I encourage you to face all the difficulties with strong courage to overcome them. Please continue with the club to improve your lives and that of other girls by showing a good example!

My Christmas Holiday Plans #2 #3

Salli Achieng

Nazarene Self Help, Kibera
Class 8

With the the help of Girl Power I learnt how to keep my body and surroundings clean, how to protect myself from bad company and that we should have principles. At first I did not know how to avoid bad company, but after being taught, I now know how to. Those who don’t know anything about life or those who are not educated, find themselves involved with bad company and later they become pregnant. I would like to see Girl Power educating more girls on how to face challenges in life. I will make sure to go to the new office in Kibera and keep the leaders of Girl Power informed of all the challenges we face. This holiday I plan to go and educate other girls and share the experiences that we face as girls. I will also avoid bad company.

Maono Educational Center, Kibera.

Since I joined Girl Power I have seen a lot of change in my life, and it has impacted my life in many positive ways. I am now able to face and make decisions even in tough situations.
Through the knowledge I have acquired,  I can now take better care of myself. I must say I have never regretted having joined other girls like me to realise how powerful and strong we are in the society. Before this, I was so ashamed and afraid to talk about my problems with other people. I though I was different from the others and had different problems but through Girl Power I realised my problems are our problems and every other girl passes through them at some point!

Now that I am soon going to be out of high school, I am going to use every bit of knowledge I have acquired through Girl Power’s programmes to improve my life and that of other girls who I will come across. I will make sure that other girls who are facing the same challenges that I passed through, will be able to speak oout and share their problems with others and find solutions with to them.

I would also like to tell other girls that the Girl Power Club is so important to their lives as girls  and that they will not regret joining the club!
